Chinese for Everyone is a must-have ebook for those who travel and do business often in China. It helps me as a businessman to obtain the useful words, phrases and sentences.
I love the way this book has - it's combined with pinyin, Chinese characters, and English translation in each lesson. All the lessons are complete and practical!
This is good reasonably priced beginner's book on elimentary chinese. There is a problem related to some pinyin words that do not come out right every time. If I open the book, some of the pinyin words don't come out right. If I shut down and start again, everything ( the formatting) works perfectly. So far, I get a bad screen about half the time, very annoying when it happens. It would be nice to have some audio, but that would raise the cost. I would like to why this problem ( the bad occasional formatting) occurs.
This is a well written ebook that covers topics that one would encounter while on a business or vacation trip to China. It is broken down so I can learn new words at my own pace. I'm definitely going to have this handy while I travel.
A comprehensive review of the subject which includes useful everyday phrases that reflect the way people really talk. Most Chinese text books either have pinyin with the English translation, or Chinese characters with the English translation. What makes this stand out is the fact it includes all three so you can gain a familiarity with the characters at the same time as learning how to speak them and their meaning. I love how the author includes snippets of background information about the country which help put the language into context and bring the learning experience to life. Can't wait to try out my newly acquired vocabulary when I'm next in Chinatown!
This book consists of six chapters, each based on a common real life situation with a lively dialogue printed in English, proper Mandarin Chinese pronunciation, and concise descriptions words and phrases as well as relevant grammatical rules. As a native Mandarin speaker who has in the past attempted to teach the language to non-Chinese, after reading the book my conclusion is that the author Janie Chan used an approach that allows the reader/student to quickly acquire a basic vocabulary and commonly used sentence structures to obtain an adequate command of this seemingly difficult and intimidating language. I highly recommend this eBook to anyone who wants to quickly learn enough Mandarin to handle conversation in a numbers of very useful contexts.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is an intermediate or anyone who just started even taking an interest in learning Chinese. I think it gives out the basics plus a little more.
I really enjoy using this book it is clear, concise, and well-organized. The lessons are interesting and useful, the explanations thorough. I especially like the fact that the lesson translations include both Chinese and English characters. This book provides excellent coverage of pertinent information to help the student gain a more complete understanding of the language.
